so when I sent out Cranberry Kisses to my Newsletter members I very distinctly removed the dedication page from the book to keep it a secret from one of my newsletter members who also happens to be one of my best friends.
Knowing that she was coming to visit in November and I would be able to show her the book and dedication in person, I wanted it be surprise and it absolutely was one of the best decisions I have made.
At this point in time, she has come to visit and saw the dedication but also you have probably seen the video reaction of her reading it.
Here is what the dedication says:
"To the long distance besties who are the sunshine in the storm, the flowers in the desert, and the light on the darkest of days.
To Carla"
It was easily one of the most incredible interactions we have had and I am so glad that I kept it a secret until now.
We have been friends since early in our chiropractic schooling and have quickly become almost inseparable (aside from the fact that we now live in different countries). She was the first person I told I was writing a book and is the first person to know everything that happens within my book journey.
The friend that picks me up when I am down and then assures me that I can do hard things, the hard things that I do not think I can do. She has no problem telling me hard things (including changing aspects of the cover). She is the type of friend everyone needs and it only felt right to dedicate this first book to the biggest support of them all.
Have you ever kept an aspect of a book hidden to surprise someone? How did it go? Why did you choose them?
