Writing a Book

As a bookworm reading has been my entire life. I love reading a wide variety of romance, fantasy, romantasy, thriller and even historical fiction. But I never would have planned to write a book about a year ago.

The idea of writing a book was always intriguing to me and something that I wanted to do but I was always worried about what everyone would think or even if writing a book was something that I could do.

But within the last year I have learned the value of growth, and being uncomfortable and ultimately you cannot grow as an individual if you aren't uncomfortable.

As I began this journey there were only two people who really knew this a project I was working on, I didn't want to let everyone know, and not finish it or disappoint those that I love. SO I started writing, slowly some days and then quickly on others.

It was advised to me to just write the draft, then go back and rewrite, edit and make changes after the draft was done. So that is what I did, a full 100 pages, 18 chapters.

when I couldn't hold my excitement any longer and needed to share the news with all of my friends, families, colleagues and all of the fellow bookish friends I have made via social media.

SO July 1st was when I finally announced to the world, I AM WRITING A BOOK.

I am writing a book.

Still to this day, that is so surprising to me but also very exciting.

The part that is most surprising to me, or something that I can't seem to get over is that I was so nervous, so worried, so anxious, so afraid to share that I was writing a book. To talk about it.

In the month and a half that I have shared this journey with the world, I have received nothing but encouragement, excitement and support. Support from my friends, from my family, from my coworkers, from many strangers via Booktok & Bookstagram.

This blog post ended up being a rambling of my thought process about the idea of writing a book, and my experience so far.

but the moral, the importance, the WHOLE POINT of this blog post is to remind you all:

DO THE THING.

If you want to write a book, start it.

If you want to learn a new skill or hobby, watch a Youtube video.

If you want to start exercising or changing a part of your lifestyle, make a small change.

but DO THE DAMN THING.

You will not achieve greatness or goals if you do not start.

so DO IT.

and know that I am here. I am listening. I will support you. Get out there and do something new, achieve greatness and know that I am here if you need a pick me up and little push in the write direction.
